Würzer (grape)

Würzer is a white grape variety. Georg Scheu bred this species in 1932 at the State Institute for Grapevine Breeding in Alzey from a cross of Gewurztraminer and Muller -Thurgau. The grant of the right and the entry in the list of varieties carried out in 1978. The details of the breeder to the crossing parents could be confirmed in the meantime by DNA analysis.

In 2007, approximately 67 acres of vineyards were planted with spice, still after 97 hectares of vineyards were collected in 2001 in Germany.

The wine is racy, fresh and elegant and has a nice nutmeg aroma. The term spice is an indication of its spicy Art disadvantage is its sensitivity to frost and chlorosis. Würzer is a variety of the noble vine (Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphrodite flowers and is thus self- fruiting. When the wine-growing economic disadvantage is avoided, no return delivered to have male plants grow.

From the same breeding series and the same set of parents the variety Septimer arose.
