Xavier Noël

Xavier Noël ( born July 11, 1976 in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe ) is a French former amateur welterweight boxer. The seven-time French champions and multiple tournament winner won the 2001 Mediterranean Games in Tunisia, and in 2004 the silver medal at the European Championships in Croatia. Also in 2004, he represented his native country at the Summer Olympic Games in Greece.

Boxing career

He was 1999 and 2000 respectively French runners-up in the years after he was defeated in both finals against Hussein Bayram. 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008, he eventually became French Champion, where he defeated, among others, Ihsan Lahmar, Karim Bettaibi, Jaoid Chiguer, Salim Larbi, Nabil Bouneb, Edmond Mebenga and Jean -Bernard Vanden Bussche. In 2009 he reached at the French Championships, the bronze medal after losing in the semifinals against Adriani Vastine.

  • September 2001: 1st place at the 14th Mediterranean Games in Tunis, including Victories against Juan Manuel Barreda of Spain and Sami Khelifi from Tunisia.
  • June 2003: 2nd place at the 1st European Championships in Strasbourg, victories against Kariam Ysopov from Belgium, Nikolay Grisunins from Latvia and Mirosław Nowosada from Poland, final defeat by Bülent Ulusoy of Turkey
  • February 2004: 2nd place at the 35th European Championships in Pula, final defeat by Oleg Saitow from Russia
  • July 2005: 2nd place at the Mediterranean Games in Almería, victories against Ait Hammi Miloud from Morocco and Borna Katalinić from Croatia, fight -free exit in the final.
  • June 2007: 2nd place at the 5th European Championships in Dublin, defeating Diego di Luisa from Italy, Zarif Radu from Romania and Adem Kilicci from Turkey, Final defeat against Roy Sheahan in Ireland
  • June 2008: 3rd place at the 6th European Championships in Cetniewo, beating Ferman Muzaffer of Turkey, semi-final defeat against Billy Joe Saunders from England
