Xenia Hausner

Xenia Hausner ( born 1951 in Vienna) is an Austrian painter and stage designer.

Life

Xenia Hausner is the daughter of Austrian painter Rudolf Hausner and the sister of director Jessica Hausner. Between 1972 and 1976 she completed the stage studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. 1977 - 1992 she was charged with more than 100 facilities for theater and opera, including the Burgtheater in Vienna, Covent Garden London, Theatre de la Monnaie in Brussels.

Since 1992, Xenia Hausner works exclusively as a painter and has since 1996 numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. She lives and works in Berlin and Vienna.

Work

In its picturesque plant itself Hausner employs mostly with the representation of women whose relationships with each other, the viewer is never open up completely. Hausner presents it in an expressive ductal and selects a very colorful palette that is particularly evident at the flesh tones of the protagonists. Since 1990 she has been a painter and increasingly graphics and mixed-media work in which she painted large-format photographs and other materials offset patchy in the image carrier installs. Her work thus often grow a collage about the original painting surface addition.

Thematically, it leads the viewer into an enigmatic world of images that is enriched with ciphers and signifiers. Her large- scale works tell of the mysterious world of human relationships, it is deliberately ambiguous fragmentary situations. Her characters radiate partially out of pride, partly painful understanding of the world. Finally, there are the emotional presence and the penetrating gaze of her actors who keep the audience spellbound.
