Yalakom Provincial Park

The Yalakom Provincial Park is a 8941 -hectare Provincial Park in the Canadian province of British Columbia. The park is located about 60 kilometers northwest of Lillooet, Cariboo Regional District, however, already.

This Provincial Park is a so-called backcountry park. These usually have no direct connection to a proper road and are only gravel roads or impossible to reach by road.

Plant

The park is located, as part of the Chilcotin Range, in the Camel Foot Range at the edge of the Interior Plateau. It includes the very original area around the eponymous river Yalakom and the Nine Mile Ridge.

History

The park was only established in 2010 and is one of the youngest provincial parks in British Columbia.

Flora and Fauna

Since the park rather in the alpine zone (Alpine tundra zone) is also watch only the trees that are typical here. Common representatives are the Subalpine Fir, Mountain Hemlock, Engelmann spruce, white spruce and white pine descent.

Since the area is sparsely populated, can be found here along with other more common animals including black bears and a subspecies of bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis sierrae ) and grizzly bears. The bird here find grouse and golden eagles, but also Black Rosy - Finch, Leucosticte atrata (a rare subspecies of Rosy Finch ).

Activities

The park offers hikers, mountain climbers and other outdoor enthusiasts a variety of ways.

The park includes as yet no solid camping areas.
