Yann Clairay
Yann Clairay ( born December 2, 1983 in Laval ) is a French racing driver.
Career
In Formula racing
2002 Clairay began his career in the French Formula Renault, in which he had a total of three seasons running. His best overall placement reached Clairay 2004, when he was runner-up with two wins. In addition Clairay started at some races of the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, where he went to the start in the next season. 2005 Clairay was with three wins third in the overall standings. In the seasons 2004 and 2005 Clairay drove for SG Formula. 2006 two races in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup at the start. 2007 moved Clairay in the Formula 3 Euro Series Signature-Plus and was overall in twelfth. In the following season Clairay moved back to SG Formula. Clairay came twice finished second and was ninth in the overall standings.
In sports car
In parallel with a commitment to Formula Renault, he established contacts with the former Formula 1 driver Paul Belmondo, for whose team he competed in the 24- hour race at Spa -Francorchamps 2003. The race of the FIA GT Championship finished Clairay, Belmondo, Emmanuel Clerico and Pierre -Yves Corthals in the Chrysler Viper GTS -R in sixth place overall and on the podium of the GT class. After a year break Clairay 2005 again drove a Viper for Paul Belomondo Racing. The 1000 - km race at Silverstone in the Le Mans Endurance Series, however, was less successful. Although finished Clairay the barrel, but with technical problem only in the back of the midfield. Nevertheless, he received the following championship race at the Nürburgring the opportunity to drive a Le Mans prototype. He, Belmondo and Didier André finished the race on the podium of LMP2. At the last championship run in Istanbul had Clairay vacate the cockpit in favor of Lokalmadatoren Cemil Cipa. Nevertheless, he received a contract with Paul Belmondo for the 2006 season of the Le Mans Series now called series. First, the year started promising. When out of fuel shortened barrel in Istanbul, the trio Andre, Claire and Belmondo finished in fourth place in the LMP2 category. After that, the car fell out of the 1000- km race at Spa -Francorchamps. When not to mastery belonging to 24 - hour race at Le Mans Clairay burst when Driving Indenapolis the curve of the tire, turned and slammed it into the barriers, was shortly afterwards under air and circulated to the guardrail along. He got out of the burning vehicle after starting on its own. In addition to the event, the team had fallen into financial difficulties, so that the uninjured Clairay at the Nürburgring could not drive. In the following two races Clairays emergency vehicle was no longer reported at year-end and put the team on racing in the series complete one.
In 2007 and 2008 he concentrated therefore returned to the Formula racing and returned only in 2009 back to the Le Mans Series. Clairay received a contract with team owner and driver Luc Alphand. With which he and Patrice Goueslard the Chevrolet Corvette C6.R of the team should share in parts to. By the end of the team finished two of five races as the winner of the GT1 category and secured the ' team as well as the drivers' title of GT1. In addition, he performed with Julien Jousse and Xavier Maassen for the second time in Le Mans and finished the race behind the Corvette factory team in second place of the GT1 category.
