Yaroslav II of Vladimir

Yaroslav II Vsyevolodovitch (* 1190, † September 30, 1246 in Karakorum ) was the Grand Prince of Vladimir from 1238 from the dynasty of Rurik, son Vsevolod Jurjewitschs and father Wassilis.

Yaroslav II succeeded his brother Yuri II, who in 1238 fell in the Battle of the Sit against the Mongols, the Grand Duke throne of Vladimir. Initially Jaroslaw remained largely unaffected by the new Mongol rulers. But that changed soon. After the return of the Great Khan Batu Yaroslav II in 1242 had to appear at his court in Sarai for the first time. Batu confirmed him as though the Grand Duke, as of that date but had to be approved their rule of the Mongols all the Russian princes. During one of these visits Yaroslav II in 1246 was poisoned in the Karakoram.
