Yaşar Yakış

Yaşar Yakis ( born August 1938 at County Akçakoca, Düzce Province) is a Turkish ambassador, politician and former Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Yakis graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University. After working for a time at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the NATO Defence College Yakis in Rome. He was permanent representative to NATO and the United Nations (UN ) and Secretary of the Embassy in Damascus. Yakis founded the Coordination Office İSEDAK of the Economic and Trade Committee of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC ) in the State Planning Institute, and was its president. He was ambassador in Riyadh and Cairo. Yaşar Yakis was in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deputy State Secretary. He published a number of articles on foreign policy at home and abroad.

Yaşar Yakis is a founding member of the Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi ( AKP). Yakis was a deputy for the province of Düzce in the 22nd and 23rd session of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. He was also a member of the Turkey -EU Joint Commission and President of the EU Commission adaptation in these two sessions. In the 58th Government (Cabinet Gul ), he was Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Yaşar Yakis is married and father of a child. He speaks French, English and Arabic.
