Yasuhiro Yamashita

Yasuhiro Yamashita (Japanese山下 泰 裕, Yasuhiro Yamashita, born July 1, 1957 in Yabe (now Yamato) Kamimashiki -gun, Japan) is one of the most successful Japanese judoka and winner of the 8th Dan.

Between October 1977 and his resignation in April 1985, he was undefeated and won 203 fights mostly with Ippon. He was nine times Alljapanischer champion, four times world champion and Olympic champion from Los Angeles. From 1970 to 1985 Yasuhiro Yamashita won 528 fights, lost only 16 times and fought 15 times in a draw. Yasuhiro Yamashita is Professor at the Tōkai University in Japan and since 2003 Education & Coaching Director of the International Judo Federation ( IJF ).
