Yasuyuki Konno (今 野 泰 幸Japanese, born January 25, 1983 in Sendai ) is a Japanese football player.

Career

Konno played in youth for the school team, the Tohoku High School in his hometown. After that, he was not accepted by the local Vegalta Sendai. Instead, he came under the Serie A club Consadole Sapporo. Already in the first two years he was a regular in the highest Japanese game class to use, but then battling with financial problems had to join the club in the second division. There, the versatile defender was a regular player, but after the revival failed, Konno had to be delivered.

The first division side FC Tokyo then secured his services and he became a regular player and the solid support of the capital club. With him, the club won in the first year and again in 2009 the Japanese Cup competition.

Already in Sapporo and later in Tokyo Yasuyuki Konno belonged to the Japanese national teams. He took part in the U-19 Asia Cup and the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2003. In the 2004 Olympics, he played three games for the Japanese selection. On 3 August 2005 he played his first international match in the senior team against China in the East Asian Cup. Nevertheless, he could not establish there once and was not included in the Football World Cup 2006 in Germany. Only then brought him national team coach Takeshi Okada, who had signed him in 2001 as manager of Consadole Sapporo, again regularly to the national team back. Then this time he was also at the Football World Cup 2010 in South Africa in the World Cup squad. However, he was only the fifth man in the defense team of the Japanese and had in establishing the cold. Only in the third round match he came in the closing minutes to his only short-term use.
