Yevgeniy Vladimirov

Yevgeny Jurjewitsch Vladimirov (Russian: Евгений Юрьевич Владимиров; Evgeny Vladimirov English; born 20 January 1957) is a Kazakh chess player and coach.

In 1974 he was at the unofficial Under-17 Youth World Cup in Pont -Sainte- Maxence second behind Jonathan Mestel. In January 1977, he took third place in the U20 European Youth Championships in Groningen. In 1982 he received the title of International Master. He won tournaments in Tashkent in 1987 and Frunze in 1988, today's Bishkek. In 1989 he was awarded the grandmaster title. With the Kazakh national team he won the 1993 Asia Cup 1993 in Kuala Lumpur.

At the world championship match between Karpov and Kasparov 1986 he seconded Kasparov. After Kasparov had lost three games in a row ( lots 17 to 19), he accused Vladimirov, as a spy for Karpov's team to work, but this has never been proven. From Kasparov was known that he likes seeing the reasons for defeats outside his person.

He trained Indian young talents such as P. Harikrishna and Pari Negi, was used as a coach of the Indian team in the 2002 Chess Olympiad in Bled. To this end, he trains nor the Kazakh national team. Since 2004, he has the title FIDE Senior Trainer.

His current Elo rating is 2623 (as of September 2009). He is listed as inactive. He had led in January 2008, the Kazakh Elo ranking. His previous highest Elo rating was 2628 in July 2004.
