Yo-Sam Choi

Choi Yo- sam ( born March 1, 1972 in Jeongeup, Jeollabukdo; † January 3, 2008 in Seoul) was a South Korean professional boxer and world champion by the WBC version.

Life

Choi Yo- sam was a professional boxer in 1993 and won six years later in the light flyweight world title of the Association of WBC with a win against Saman Sorjaturong from Thailand. This track Choi defended three times before him in 2002 after a technical knockout lost in the 6th round to Jorge Arce ( Mexico). After this defeat, the South Koreans fought a weight class higher Flyweight where he could vanquish with Kim Jin -ho and Kim Jae -ho two compatriots by knockout. 2004 Choi returned once in the light flyweight to fight against Colombian Beibis Mendoza to the interim WBA title. After 12 rounds, the man from South Korea was defeated by a unanimous points verdict in favor of the South Americans, however.

Then Choi Yo- sam finally got on in the flyweight, where he eventually WBA champion Lorenzo Parra challenged from Venezuela. Also this fight lost the man from South Korea by unanimous decision.

On September 16, 2007 Choi fought against the Thais Terdkiat Jandaeng for the vacant WBO intercontinental title, where he was declared after 12 rounds for unanimous points winner. On 25 December 2007 for the first time Choi defended his title against Heri Amol of Indonesia. Shortly before the end of the last round, the defending champion went first to the ground, but was still able to finish the fight and win on points. Immediately after the announcement of the verdict lost Choi Yo- sam still in the ring consciousness and had to be rushed to a hospital, where his brain death has been determined on January 2, 2008, and he died at 00.18 clock local time after switching off the ventilator on January 3, 2008.

After his death, the athletes were taken six of his organs. He had declared his lifetime trying to donate.
