Yotzer ohr

Birkat Jozer Or ( Hebrew בִּרְכַּת יוֹצֵר אוֹר - The blessing of the Creator of Light ) is part of the Jewish Shacharit morning prayer, and the first of the two blessings that are recited immediately before the Shema during Shacharit.

" בָּרוךְ אַתָּה יְיָ אֱלֹהֵנוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, יוֹצֵר אוֹר וּבוֹרֵא חשֶׁךְ, עֹשֶֹה שָׁלוֹם וּבוֹרֵא אֶת הַכֹּל. בָּרוךְ אַתָּה, יְיָ, יוֹצֵר הַמְּאוֹרוֹת "

" Blessed are You [ ... ] our God, King of the universe, the light and darkness creates, creates peace and creates all things. Blessed are You [ ... ] creates the light. "

Description

According to the Midrash, Adam and Eve were the first people reciting this blessing, as they were in the garden of Eden.

Birkat Jozer includes the blessing of the sun because the sun is essential for life. Thus, the sun light is available, which is required for the whole life on Earth.

The first verse is from the (Isa. 45.7 EU) and corresponds to the first section of the Shema.

The blessing includes two items. First, the divine wisdom is described, which presents itself as part of a cosmic order. Secondly, the angels are described. To the praise of the angels forming part of the Kedusha.
