Yurino (cattle)

The Jurinoer beef (Russian Юринская transcribed Jurinskaja ) is a dual purpose cattle breed from Russia.

Breeding history

Originally the breed in the area of ​​today's Rajons Gornomarijski and Jurino was grown in Mari El from local Tschuwasch Mari cattle, in the nearly one hundred years later Tyrolean Grey cattle and Brown Swiss were bred. Also the Gorbatower Rotvieh had its impact on the breed. End of the 19th century, Brown Swiss, Simmental, German Black Pied old breeding direction, Kholmogory cattle and other breeds were bred. From 1908 the Jurinoer beef was just pure bred. In 1917 the state took over the supervision of the breed. 1934, a herd book has been introduced. 1941 Jurinoer beef was officially recognized as a dual-purpose breed.

Characteristics

  • Breed not very homogeneous
  • Color brown or red in many shades, some white spots on the lower abdomen and legs

Occurrence

The Jurinoer beef is found in Mari El only in Rajon Gornomarijski. The stock went from 46,000 in 1974 to 3,500 in 1983 back.
