ZÄ…binowice

Ząbinowice ( German Gersdorf ) is a village in Bytów ( Buetow ) in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Geographical location

Ząbinowice located in Pomerania, about four kilometers (direct distance ) south-east of the small town Bytów. Neighbouring localities are the village in the northwest between Bytów and Ząbinowice Madrezechowo and the village Rabacino in the southeast. Two kilometers southwest of Ząbinowice is the Mangwitzer lake. In the district of the village lies east of the village center of Lake Piaschen.

History

Ząbinowice was formerly a manor. Around 1780 there were in Gersdorf a Vorwerk, four farmers, two Kossäten, an inn, a blacksmith, a Lutheran schoolmaster and a total of 13 hearths (households). Towards the end of the 18th century was a Peter George of Puttkamer the owner of Gutsbetriebs.

The village lived in the past, mainly by agriculture and forestry. The agricultural products were primarily marketed in the nearby town Buetow.

Towards the end of the Second World War, the region was occupied in the spring of 1945 by the Red Army and made after the war, together with all Pomerania under Polish administration. The German village Gersdorf was renamed Ząbinowice. Shortly after the immigration of Poles who urged the German locals from their homes and farms began. The Germans were driven to about 1947, citing the so-called Bierut Decrees from their village.
