Żary County

The powiat Żarski is a powiat ( county ) in the Polish Lubusz Voivodeship with the county town of Zary ( Sorau ). It lies on the border with Germany between the Lusatian Neisse and the Bober. The county has an area of 1,394 km ², approximately 100,000 inhabitants, and is part of the euro region Neisse on.

Description: In red and silver right diagonally divided; above a silver arrow accompanied by two six-pointed silver stars and the bottom of a gold five -ended red deer rod with the scab.

History

The county was formed by the reduction of the provinces and the reintroduction of the counties on January 1, 1999. Its territory corresponds partly to the Prussian district Sorau (Lausitz ) ( 1818-1945 ).
