Zdzisław Hoffmann

Zdzisław Hoffmann ( born August 27, 1959 in Świebodzin ) is a former Polish athlete who became in 1983 the first world champion of Poland in the triple jump.

At the Olympic Games in 1980 Hoffmann failed with 15.35 meters in qualifying.

The first World Championships 1983 on August 7, the shot putter Edward Sarul had won the first gold medal for Poland. On August 8, Zdzisław Hoffmann was in the triple jump finals, for which he had recommended to 16.72 meters as Fourth Best of the qualification. In the final of the U.S. public's favorite Willie Banks went first with 17.08 meters in the lead; in the third round to Banks increased to 17.18 meters. Hoffmann improved in each of his passes and was after the fourth round with 17.18 meters to place second with 17.35 meters and 17.42 meters Hoffmann also improved in his last two tests and won with Polish national record the first world title in triple jump. He was awarded in Poland with the title Sportsman of the Year for this service.

The 1984 Olympic Games Hoffmann missed because Poland boycotted the games. His best performance in 2006 and the current Polish record was set Hoffmann 1985 with 17.53 meters in Madrid. After that he could not go on its large expanses.

At a height of 1.90 m Hoffmann had a competition weight of 85 kg.
