Zhonghe District

Zhonghe, also Jhonghe or Chunghe, (Chinese中 和 区, pinyin Zhonghe Qū, Tongyong Pinyin Jhonghe Cyu, W.-G. Chung -ho Ch'ü ), is a district of the city of New Taipei in the north of the Republic of China on Taiwan.

Location

Zhonghe Taipei is located southwest of the edge of the Taipei Basin. In the north of the Xindian River forms the border with Taipei, in the south -rich some hills into the city area. Neighboring districts in New Taipei Banqiao the northwest, Tucheng in the southwest, southeast and Xindian, Yonghe in the Northeast.

Zhonghe has a connection point to the highway 3, which passes south of Taipei, and is connected via the orange Zhonghe Line to the U- Bahn network of Taipei.

History

Still 1946 was Zhonghe a rural community (乡, Xiang ) with less than 30,000 inhabitants. Due to the proximity to Taipei, the population grew rapidly. In 1958, the new city Yonghe was formed from the northeastern part of the community. Zhonghe and Yonghe together as Shuanghe (双 和, He- twins ') called, which refers to the common name part He (和). From 1979, when the city had 170,000 inhabitants, by 2010 had Zhonghe the official status of a city (市, Shì ) in Taipei County. In 2010 she was the sixth largest city in Taiwan.
