Žítková

Žítková ( German Schitkowa ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 18 kilometers east of Uherský Brod in the White Carpathians on the border with Slovakia and belongs to Okres Uherské Hradiště.

Geography

The scattered settlement spreads creek in the valley of Žítkovský and right side of the creek on the slope of Žítkovský vrch ( 669 m), which forms the center of the village, from. The resort is part of the Moravian Kopanice. The municipal area are the nature reserves and Hutě Pod Žítkovským vrchem. To the north rises the Lokov ( 738 m). About 20 Paseken the village belong to the land of Pitín.

Neighboring towns are Vlčí Vrch in the east, the south and Stary Hrozenkov Bzová in the northwest.

History

The area of the town was originally a part of the detectable since 1261 settlement Vysoká Lhota na Hrozenkovském potoku. On the mountain Lokov there was the wooden castle Kuban, which was destroyed by fire. In the 16th and 17th centuries the area was devastated by the incursions of the Tartars, Turks and kuruc and desolate. 1750 lived in the Valley a witch and fortune-teller. The glassworks in the hamlet Hutě was destroyed in the 18th century in acts of war.

As of 1829, the existence of the settlement Žítková is occupied. The inhabitants of the village lived in modest circumstances of agriculture. Until the mid-20th century the village was spared from modern achievements. In 1948, the village was electrified in 1950 and drove the first bus to Žítková.
