Zombie Nation (band)
Zombie Nation is a German techno and electro project of the Munich live acts, DJs and music producers Florian Senfter (aka Splank ). In early 1999 appeared the first 5-track EP Zombie Nation EP on DJ Hell's International Deejay Gigolos label. Since 2001, published Splank! under the pseudonym John Starlight tracks on different labels.
History
The song contained on the debut release Kernkraft 400 applies Remix by DJ Gius (a pseudonym of Italian producers Technoboy ) as one of the most successful songs of electronic instrumental music (in this case Hardtrance ). After Erstrelease in 1999, he was licensed in Germany on Polydor, and reached Europe on different labels high positions in the sales charts. Kernkraft 400 (DJ Gius Video Cut) is among other things also in the soundtrack of the zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead and in the HBO series The Sopranos and the Graffiti film Dirty Handz 3. It is also one of the most played songs at sporting events in the United States. The NHL teams Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils play it for example at the gates home team also many college football teams have so-called " Chants ", so cheers that are sung to the melody of the song (eg the Pennsylvania State University). Since recently, Austria Vienna has this song as Torhymne. The original melody is part of computer game music of the Commodore 64 game Lazy Jones from the 1980s.
In 2002, Splank! the record label Dekathlon Records, which was transferred to the newly founded sublabel UKW Records in early 2005. There all Zombie Nation - recordings have been released since 2003. In the summer of 2007, the song Lower State of Consciousness was published by a collaboration with the Canadian artist Tiga under the project name ZZT.
Zombie Nation is since 1999 one of the most booked live acts in electronic music in the international club scene. Unlike other DJs and live acts from the electronic group arranges Splank! during concerts his songs every time from scratch. Improvisations created especially for performances samples and sounds are also a well-known trademark. The core of the instrument setups is an AKAI MPC 4000, and various effects units which are driven in part via a mixer.
