Zone d'études et d'aménagement du territoire

As a Zone d' études et d' aménagement du territoire ( ZEAT, space research and space planning areas ') are referred to the 8 zones, is divided into Metropolitan France for statistical purposes. They each include one or more of the 21 regions and Corsica.

The definition of ZEAT place in 1967 by Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques ( INSEE ), together with the Commissariat général and the Delegation à l' aménagement du territoire et à l'action régional ( DATAR ).

Coincident with the ZEAT are the NUTS 1 regions of the European Union. However, they differ in coding and naming from partially, also a ninth NUTS 1 region is defined for the Overseas departments.
