Zoran Planinić

Zoran Planinic ( born September 12, 1982 in Mostar, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina) is a Croatian professional basketball player. He is 2.01 m tall and plays at the position of the point guards.

Playing career

Zoran Planinic was born in Mostar. His athletic career began at the Bosnian herzegowinischem basketball club Brotnjo - Čitluk. He moved early to Croatian basketball club KK Dubrava Zagreb. In 2000 he undertook the local rival Cibona Zagreb and Croatian record holder, where he played for several years quite successfully. In the 2003 NBA Draft Planinic was selected in the first round at 22 out of the New Jersey Nets, currently a player from Croatia the best position. However, in the NBA he could not make the breakthrough, he also broke during the season 2005/2006 the right hand. He moved in the summer of 2006 in the highest Spanish league ACB to TAU Ceramica, played there until the summer of 2008. Between 2008 and 2010 Planinic was two years for CSKA Moscow in the Russian Super League under contract, where he won with this club twice the Russian Championship. From 2010 to 2013 he played for the Russian competitors BK Khimki from the eponymous suburb of Moscow, but the behind CSKA each always won the vice-championship. In his first season with Khimki but Planinic won against CSKA in the final 2011 the Eastern European VTB United League 2010/11 and on the continental European club level, the Eurocup 2011/12. 2013 moved Planinic in the Türkiye Ligi to Anadolu Efes SK Basketbol from the Turkish city of Istanbul.

Since 1999 Planinic is in the current line-up of the Croatian national basketball team.

Achievements

Zoran Planinic won in the World Basketball Championship with Croatian basketball junior in 1999, the bronze medal, at the same time at the European Junior Championships silver medal. In the basketball world championship under 22 year olds, which was held in 2001 in Croatia, he again won a silver medal.

He won with Cibona Zagreb in the playing season 2000/2001 and 2001/2002, the Croatian basketball championship and the League Cup. With the New Jersey Nets Planinic won in the 2003/2004 season the championship in the Atlantic Division.

In the Spanish Basketball League Planinic was in the basketball season 2007/ 08 with TAU Ceramica Spanish basketball champion.

With CSKA Moscow Planinic was two times Russian champion (2009 and 2010). With BK Khimki he won the 2011 VTB United League and ULEB Eurocup 2012 the.
