BW

The Zotzensee located south of Mirow, in the south of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the Mecklenburg Lake District. The Zotzensee is the northernmost lake in the south located from Mirow chain of lakes from Zotzensee, Mössensee, Vilzsee, Zethner Lake and Black Lake.

The name derives probably from the Slavic sosna for pine.

The lake is about 1.9 km long and about 500 meters wide. It has an elongated shape and goes to the south across the Mössensee. In the north it has an inflow from Lake Mirow. In the southern part it has a pronounced bay by projecting into the lake peninsula Holm. The lake is part of the Müritz- Havel waterway and is a narrow connection, the mosquito passage connected with the Black Sea.

The edges of the lake are almost entirely forested and the banks of reeds passed.
