Zubří (Vsetín District)

Zubří ( German tubs ) is a city in the Czech Republic. It is located four kilometers west of Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in the Moravian Wallachia and belongs to Okres Vsetín.

Geography

The city is situated on the right bank of the Rožnovská Bečva between the mountain ranges of the Wsetiner mountain country and the Moravian- Silesian Beskids. By Zubří the European Route 442 / State Road 35 leads Hranicky in Slovakia. Southeast of the 522 m high Hradisko lies with the ruins of the castle Rožnov.

History

The foundation of the town was 1310. Zubří was part of the rule Rosenau.

After the dissolution of patrimonial Zubří in 1850 an independent village. Previously was Jan Palacký, František Palacký a brother last Vogt of Zubří.

With the 1892 initiated local railway Wallachian Meseritsch - Rožnau tubs received a rail connection. On 22 February 2002 Zubří was given city rights.

In addition to the embroidery and the traditional craft of Besenbinderei birch twigs is maintained in the city.
