Zygmunt Vogel

Zygmunt Vogel ( born June 15, 1764 in Wołczyn ( Polesia ), † April 20, 1826 in Warsaw) was a Polish painter, draftsman and teacher of classicism.

Vogel was the son of Michał Fryderyk Czartoryski Hofküchenmeisters the prince. Even as a child he lost his father. The Czartoryski helped the orphan child and his mother, both brought to Warsaw. At the age of 16 years bird went as an apprentice to the royal art school, where he met the Vedutenbilder by Bernardo Bellotto ( Canaletto called ) and admire learned.

Upon the order of Kronmarschalls Michał Jerzy Mniszech he copied the vedutas Canaletto, later he began to paint in watercolor own vistas of Warsaw.

On behalf of King Stanisław August Poniatowski, he visited the castles in Krzeszowice, Tęczyn, Alwernia, Lipowiec, Olkusz Rabsztyn and Pieskowa Skala. From this trip bird brought with 63 watercolors and drawings.

By the king, he was often invited to the elite " Thursday boards ". His friends called him " Ptaszek " ( bird ).

After the abdication of the king, whose departure to Saint Petersburg and speedy death bird lost his patron. He was a teacher of drawing in the Warsaw Lyceum in 1817, he was appointed professor of perspective drawing at the Art Faculty of the newly founded Warsaw University.

He was buried in the Evangelical-Augsburg Cemetery in Warsaw (26th Avenue, 6th grave ).
