2005–06 English Premiership (rugby union)

The 2005/06 season of the English Premier League was the 19th season of the top flight of English rugby union championship. For sponsorship reasons it was called Guinness Premiership. It began on 2 September 2005, consisted of 22 game days (one forward and reverse turn) and lasted until 6 May 2006. Subsequently, the top four teams qualified for the semi-finals, the semi-final winners meet in the final on 27 May 2006 in Twickenham Stadium each other. The league title won for the first time the Sale Sharks, Leeds Tykes had to descend.

Play-off

National Division One

The season of second division ( National Division One) comprised 26 game days (one forward and reverse round). The best-placed team, the Harlequins, went up into the Premiership. There were relegated this season no because the Rugby Football Union decided to expand the league from 14 to 16 teams.
