2010 Honolulu Challenger
The Honolulu Challenger 2010 was the first issue of the hard court tennis tournament in Honolulu. It was part of the ATP Challenger Tour in 2010 and was held from 24 to 31 January 2010 in the open.
The field of the individual competition consisted of 32 players, double that of the competition from 16 pairs. There were both in the individual event and for the doubles event a qualifying round with 16 players, or with four doubles, a pairing could qualify for the main draw through which the individual four players in double. The prize money of the event was $ 50,000.
Winner of the individual competition was the top-seeded American Michael Russell, who defeated the unseeded Slovenian Grega Zemlja in straight sets in the final. It was Russell's twelfth Challenger singles title of his career and his first this season.
In doubles, the unseeded pair consisting of the South African Kevin Anderson and the American Ryler Deheart won the final against the unseeded also in Kyu -tae of South Korea and Martin Slanar from Austria in a competitive match tie-break. It was the fifth doubles title at Challenger level of his career and the first of the season for Anderson. For Deheart it was the third Challenger title of his career in a double and also the first of the season. He won all three doubles titles along with Anderson.
