Akiyuki Shinbo

Akiyuki Shimbo (Japanese新房 昭 之, Akiyuki Shimbo; born September 27, 1961 in Fukushima Prefecture ) is a Japanese anime director.

Life

After Akiyuki Shimbo graduated at the Tōkyō Design Gakuin, he became friends with the artist Animation Studio One Pattern, and at this time was closely related to the manga artist Kazuki Takahashi. One of his earliest works, in which he was involved as a draftsman, was Urusei Yatsura in 1981. Later he moved to Studio Pierrot, where at Karakuri Kengōden Musashi Lord for the first time one of the technical directors ( enshutsu ) it was 1990, that is responsible for this was that production staff implemented the requirements of the director ( kantoku ). He took same position at another Pierrot productions, where he attracted attention in the 74 series Yu Yu Hakusho Episode 58 and particularly with an episode, so he was first commissioned in 1994 for Metal Figher Miku with the Director ( kantoku ).

He was director of the OVA Soreyuke 1996! Uchū Senkan Yamamoto Yōko that an OVA, and in 1999 a television series moved to in 1997 and who became his second television directing work - however, Shimbo turned primarily to OVA productions. In 2003, he was responsible for the computer game adaptation Triangle Heart - Sweet Songs Forever responsible, which should prove to be a stroke of luck. 2004 was based on this OVA spin -off television series Maho Shōjo Lyrical Nanoha produced, in which he also acted as a director and was a huge success. He also published in the same year, the OVA The Picture of Petit Cossette and the television series Tsukuyomi - Moon phase, both of which were also successful. The latter work was animated by Studio Shaft, for which he mainly works since 2005, while partly in a quarter at the same time has directed two series.

His two series Bakemonogatari, Madoka Magica Puella Magi and Nisemonogatari were among the best-selling anime series of 2010, 2011 and 2012 respectively.

His visual style is often characterized by surreal elements, typographic art and cuts to text panels and photographs.
