Ambacourt

Ambacourt is a commune in the Vosges department in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Neufchâteau, for Canton charm and community association Pays de Mirecourt.

Geography

The 294 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) scoring Ambacourt community located about 40 kilometers south of Nancy and 40 kilometers north-west of Epinal, close to the border with the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle. The nearest towns are Mirecourt in seven and charm in twelve kilometers away.

The Moselle tributary Madon forms the northeast boundary of the municipality. Southwest and southeast of the town Ambacourt flow the streams Ruisseau des Vraines, Le Ruisseau Hainveau and Le Ruisseau Xouillon in the Madon. The 6.76 km ² large municipality of Ambacourt includes a portion of the middle Madontales. The Madonufer is 258 m; the surrounding hills reach an altitude of 346 m ( Haut de la Rappe ) and 334 m ( Le Haut de Battange ). The village Ambacourt drags on the north, the left bank of Madon. The north wind protected location allows here the cultivation of vines - a rarity in the department of Vosges. The nearest major wine growing areas reveals only about 45 kilometers to the northwest near Toul. The proportion of forest in the municipality of Ambacourt is approximately 25% ( Les Tailottes in the northwest and Boid d' Ormont in the northeast ). By far the largest part of the municipal area consists of arable and meadow land.

To Ambacourt include the districts and the hamlet of Les Poiriottes, Moulin Collot, Ferme de Bellevue and Ferme de Trimoulot.

Neighboring communities of Ambacourt are Pont -sur -Madon in the north, Bettoncourt in the east, in the southeast Chauffecourt, Poussay the southwest, Chauffecourt the southwest, Frenelle -la -Grande in the west and Bouzanville in the northwest.

History

The place Ambacourt appeared in 1051 the first time in a document as part of the abbey Chaumousey. The existence of a church in the village was registered for the first time in the year 1119. During the Middle Ages Ambacourt was also dependent on the Bailiwick in Mirecourt. The duties of the inhabitants amounted to oats, wheat and poultry (one hen to St. Martin).

1790 Ambacourt came first to the Canton of Mirecourt, moved in 1801 to the canton of charm and part since 1833 back to Canton Mirecourt. The Church of St. Peter was built in 1842 under the patronage of the abbot of Chaumousey instead of a ramshackle previous building. The parish is part of the Deanery Ambacourt Saintois in the Diocese of Saint- Dié. The town hall and school buildings ( Mairie - école ) was built in 1865.

Economy and infrastructure

Ambacourt has kept its character as a farming village. To live up to now most of the inhabitants of agriculture ( particularly grain and fodder production and animal husbandry ).

By Ambacourt leads the Department of Road 55 of Mirecourt after charm with a connection to the motorway-like N 57 (Metz -Nancy- Epinal ). The nearest train station is in the nearby small town of Mirecourt on the railway line Nancy Dijon.
