Mazirot

Mazirot is a commune in the Vosges department in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Neufchâteau, the Canton of Mirecourt and founded in 1997, Local Government Association, Pays de Mirecourt.

Geography

The 221 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) scoring Mazirot municipality is situated on the Mosel tributary Madon, whose running here a striking flow loop describes. Just south of Mazirot lies the small town of Mirecourt, the Epinal Prefecture is located 33 kilometers from Mazirot.

Neighboring communities of Mazirot are Chauffecourt in the north, and Bettoncourt Gircourt -lès- Viéville in the northeast, Avillers in the east, in the southeast of Villers, Mirecourt in the south and Poussay in the West.

History

The place probably first appeared in the 13th century as Maiseroy.

Ecclesiastical belonged Mazirot Together with the neighboring Chauffecourt the chapter Remiremont, which received two-thirds of the tithe.

The Church in Mazirot dates from the 14th century, it is part of the deanery in the diocese of Toul Jorxey.

The town hall ( Mairie ) was born in 1870, the school in 1832.
