Chef-Haut

Chef-Haut is a commune in the Vosges department of the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Neufchâteau, the Canton of Mirecourt and was founded in 1998 Kommunalverband Xaintois.

Geography

The 45 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) scoring community Chef-Haut is located in Xaintois, about 45 kilometers north- west of Epinal and 40 kilometers south of Nancy, on the border with the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle.

The eastern municipal boundary runs along the watershed of the basins of the Rhine and Meuse. In head - skin of Rupt Joncs which drains westward to the Meuse Creek Vair springs. Apart from the settlement area and a small, comprehensive seven acres of woodland in the north of the municipal area consists of arable and grassland.

Neighboring communities of Chef-Haut are Courcelles in the northeast, Blémerey in the east, Oëlleville in the south, southwest, and Aboncourt Repel in the west and north.

History

The development of head - skin ( before 1766 Chevaul, Chevaux ) is closely connected with the history of today's neighboring community Oëlleville. For the year 1594 the division of the income from the village between the provosts of Châtenois and Neufchâteau one hand, and the bailiwick of the county Vaudémont on the other hand survived. 1841 was Chief skin for Bailiwick Mirecourt. The mayor and school building (now the Mairie ) dates back to 1883.

The present church of Saint -Jean- Baptist (John the Baptist ) grew out of a chapel, which was founded in 1500 by Jean Chrestenoy et Barbe and his wife. 1853, the chapel was rebuilt and enlarged. Some characteristics of the old chapel are still visible, the windows of the choir and the base of the walls and pillars.

Economy and infrastructure

Agriculture continues to play an important role in head - skin and environment. Chef-Haut is located off the national traffic flows. Five kilometers south of the village runs the partial two-lane secondary road 166 that leads from Epinal Mirecourt after about Neufchâteau.
