Frenelle-la-Grande
Frenelle -la -Grande is a commune in the Vosges department of the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Neufchâteau, the Canton of Mirecourt and founded in 1997, local government association Xaintois.
Geography
The 123 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) scoring community Frenelle -la -Grande in Xaintois is located in northern départements de Vosges, on the border with the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle, eight kilometers northwest of the town of Mirecourt. The hilly ground relief to Frenelle -la -Grande belongs to the catchment area of Madon. The biggest part of its territory is used for agriculture; in the east, the municipality has an approximately 20 -acre portion of a forest area.
Neighboring communities of Frenelle -la -Grande are Boulaincourt in the north, Bouzanville in the northeast, Ambacourt in the east, Puzieux in the south, Frenelle -la -Petite in the west and Fraisnes -en- Saintois in the northwest.
History
The place Frenelle -la -Grande was first documented by the Catholic Encyclopedia Gallia Christiana in 1051 as Grandem Frasnum. Other, subsequent designations were Franellum, Frasnel and Frana magna and Grande Frenel in "Atlas National " Cassini.
The village belonged to the French Revolution to the Bailiwick of Mirecourt. The present church was built in the late 19th century in place of a previous building dating from the sixteenth century.
The school and the town hall ( Mairie ) were built in 1834.

Transport links
Frenelle -la -Grande is located off the national transport links. Seven kilometers south there are connections to the crossing-free department -developed road D 166 ( Epinal Neufchâteau ). Passing through the municipality, the railway line Nancy- Mirecourt - Merrey. At the former breakpoint Frenelle -la -Grande - Puzieux which is in the municipality Frenelles do not hold any more moves. The nearest train station is in the nearby small town of Mirecourt.
