Andres Ambühl

Andres Ambühl ( born September 14, 1983 in Davos ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who is under contract with HC Davos in the Swiss National League A since 2013.

Career

Andres Ambühl began his career at the 2000 Elite A - Juniors of HC Davos. In the same season he made his debut in the National League A for Davos. A year later he was laid to NLA squad of HCD and shot on September 11, 2001, his first NLA goal in the game against the ZSC Lions.

In the following years, Ambühl developed into a defensively - strong striker who is primarily distinguished by good Checking and his battle -fitting game. 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2009, he was Swiss champion with the HC Davos, the team also repeatedly won the Spengler Cup. When Spengler Cup 2007 Ambühl scored the 3:2 against Team Canada, as the Canadian Goalie Justin Pogge lost a puck behind his own goal and Ambühl had to push this only in the empty net.

In December 2007 Ambühl extended his contract with the HCD for a further two years with an opt-out clause for an international commitment. At the end of the season 2008 /09 he was again Swiss champion with the HCD. Due to the benefits shown he was taken in May 2009 after nine seasons with HCD of the New York Rangers under contract. He graduated no match for the Rangers, but came only in the American Hockey League action.

On 16 April 2010 the ZSC Lions announced that Ambühl would return to Switzerland and had signed a three-year contract with an NHL - Ausstiegsklaussel until July 15, 2010 at this. In 2012, he was with the Lions Swiss champion.

On 28 December 2012, bakannt that Andres Ambühl will return after three years in Zurich for the next season back to his hometown club HC Davos.

Internationally

His first game for Switzerland graduated Andres Ambühl at the U18 World Cup 2001. During the following two years he played for the Swiss U20 national team, including at the U20 World Cup in 2002 and the U20 World Cup 2003. Starting in 2004, he was appointed regularly to the squad for the Swiss team and established himself as a regular player. Since then, he stood by all of the following World Championships ( 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012) for Switzerland on the ice. Furthermore graduated Ambühl 2005, the qualification for the Olympic Hockey Tournament and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and the 2010 in Vancouver.

At the World Championships in 2013 in Stockholm and Helsinki, he was again part of the national team and won the silver medal with this.
