August Eberhard Müller

August Eberhard Müller ( born December 13, 1767 in Northeim, † December 3, 1817 in Weimar ) was a German composer, organist and choirmaster.

Müller received his first music lessons from his father, who was organist, and has already appeared eight year publicly. He came as a student of Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach to Bückeburg, where he was organist of the Ulrichskirche to 1788. Since 1789 he worked as a conductor, teacher and organist in Magdeburg.

On the recommendation of Johann Friedrich Reichardt, whom he had met in Berlin in 1792, he received in 1794 the organist at the Nikolai Church in Leipzig. In 1800 he was an adjunct of Thomas cantor Johann Adam Hiller, whom he succeeded in office after his death in 1804. In 1810 he was grand-ducal Kapellmeister in Weimar.

Mueller earned contributions to the care of the works of Bach and the spread of the Viennese classics. In 1801 he conducted the first performance of " Seasons" by Haydn outside of Vienna. He composed for the piano two concerts, fourteen sonatas, caprices and other pieces. He also wrote seven flute concertos and other works for flute and orchestra, and Etudes for Flute and Piano.

His son Theodor Amadeus Müller ( born May 20, 1798 in Leipzig, † March 11, 1846 in Weimar ) received violin lessons from Louis Spohr was a violinist and the grand-ducal chapel Weimar. He composed orchestral works alongside a number of solos and duets for violin, which were estimated at the time.
