Bassa (also Basa, Basaa, Bicek, Bikyek, Bisaa, Mbele, Mee, Mvele, North Mbene and Tupen ) is the language of the Bassa people in Cameroon.

It belongs to the Bantu languages ​​and is spoken by about 230,000 people in the Littoral Province in the districts Nkam and Sanaga -Maritime and the province of Centre in the district of Nyong -et- Kéllé, primarily and in the region around the town of Edea, Douala Yaoundé and partly as a minority language in these two cities.

Classification

Bassa is a Northwest Bantu language and belongs to Basaa group that is classified as Guthrie Zone A40.

She has the dialects Bakem, Bon, Bibeng, Diboum, Log, Mpo, Mbang, Ndokama, Basso, Ndokbele, Ndokpenda and Nyamtam.
