Bellary (Lok Sabha constituency)

The Lok Sabha constituency - Bellary is a constituency in elections to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament. It is located in the state of Karnataka and covers most of the district of Bellary.

The constituency is for candidates from the tribal population ( scheduled tribes ) reserved. The last election to the Lok Sabha 1,401,258 residents were eligible to vote.

Constituency history

The constituency consists Bellary Lok Sabha since the first election in 1951. Until 1953 the constituency was part of the State of Madras and then to the State of Mysore, before it was renamed Karnataka in 1973. Since the 2009 Lok Sabha election, the constituency for candidates from the tribal population is reserved.
