Bohdanovce nad Trnavou

Bohdanovce nad Trnavou ( until 1927 slovak " Bogdánovce " or " Bohdanovce "; Bogdanowitz German, Hungarian Bogdány - to 1907 Bogdanóc ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 1201 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Trnava Region a part of the Trnavský.

Geography

The municipality is located in the hill country Trnavská pahorkatina (part of the Slovak Danube lowland ) on the river Trnavka, in the sight of the Little Carpathians. The center is located at an altitude of 177 m nm and is seven kilometers from Trnava.

History

Archaeological studies show that today's municipal area was permanently settled in the Stone Age, such as peoples of the Želiezovce culture. By the High Middle Ages include the Maďarovce culture from the late Bronze Age and Slavic peoples in the early Middle Ages.

The village with its parish was first mentioned in 1332 as Podans writing. The place name is derived from the Slavic name Bogdan. The village belonged to the 16th century to the Earl of St. Georgen and Bösing, after which it was divided along the main road: the western part was part of the Herrschaftsguts of beaver dam and east of the road in those of Burg Ostry Kamen. At this time the majority of the population was engaged in agriculture and viticulture. The municipal area also was the village Nemčín ( 1393 mentioned as Nempty ), which went under before the end of the Middle Ages.

In the Battle of Trnava on October 5, 1621 imperial troops were defeated by the insurgent army Gábor Bethlen in place.

1828 are listed 74 houses and 527 inhabitants. Until 1918/1919 was one of the county lying in the Bratislava city of the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia, and now Slovakia. 1975-1990 the neighboring Šelpice was a part of the community.
