Buzica

Buzica ( until 1948 slovak " Buzita "; Hungarian Buzita ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia with 1205 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It is located in Okres Košice - okolie kraj part of Košice.

Geography

The community is located about 24 kilometers southwest of Kosice and directly on the border with Hungary. The almost 20 km ² large municipality covers a portion of the basin Košická kotlina and the south adjoining hills Bodvianska pahorkatina (Hungarian Cserehát ). Here the RŮŽOVÝ springs creek, a small stream, which in the Ida, a Bodva Creek, flows to the north of the municipality. The center is located at an altitude of 212 m nm, the highest point in the municipality of Orta marked with 319 m above the sea on the Hungarian border.

Neighboring communities of Buzica are Cestice in the north, Velka Ida in the northeast, Nižný Lánec and Perín - Chym in the east, and Hernádpetri Pusztaradvány the southeast, Hernádpetri, Pusztaradvány and Szemere in the south and Rešica in the West.

History

In 1262 the village was first mentioned in writing as Villa Bozita. 1910 lived in Buzita 894 people, of whom 891 Hungarian-. By the Treaty of Trianon, the village to the county Abaúj- Torna in the Kingdom of Hungary was, from then on belonged Buzica / Buzita like all lying in the county Abaúj- Torna and mostly Hungarian-speaking places to Czechoslovakia. After the First Vienna Award these communities were once again from 1938 to 1945 in Hungary.

Population

According to the results of the 2001 census lived in Buzica 1,142 inhabitants, of which

  • 63.49 % Hungarians,
  • 32.14 % Slovaks,
  • 1.49% Roma.

Economy and infrastructure

Still Agriculture plays a major role in Buzica. In the wide, crisscrossed by canals plain in the north feed and grains are grown mainly in the south can be found next to fruit cultivation areas isolated on sheltered slopes and vineyards.

The residents work in agriculture or commute to the industries in and around Košice. With a post office, a grocery store and a pharmacy Buzica forms a local supply center for smaller communities in the neighborhood. Buzica is also a school site.
