CALABARZON or Region IV -A is a Philippine region. The administrative center of the region is the town of Calamba City since 23 October 2003. The region adjacent to Metro Manila has the highest population density.
CALABARZON and MIMAROPA were once joined together as Southern Tagalog and were separated in 2002.
CALABARZON is an acronym, which is composed of the names of the provinces of the region: CA ( vite ), LA ( guna ), BA ( tangas ), R ( Izal ), ( Que ) ZON.

Culture
The earliest artistic representations on the territory of the Philippines located in the administrative region. They have become known as petroglyphs of Angono. The largest church in the administrative region is the Basilica of St. Martin of Tours, it is the largest church in Southeast and East Asia. Another minor basilica is the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel in Tayabas City.
