History

In the local area of the church today the city of Heraclea Minoa was born. The present town was founded in 1610 as Cattolica. 1874 the name of the place, the addition Eraclea has been attached. The name suffix is reminiscent of the ancient city Heraclea Minoa Eraclea Mineo or today.
