Chevigney -sur- l'Ognon is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Chevigney -sur- l'Ognon situated at an altitude of 225 m above sea level, approximately 16 km west-northwest of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in a slightly elevated position in the wide valley of Ognon, south of the river and the northern edge of the Bois des Fouchères.

The area of ​​4.58 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the lower Ognontals. The northern boundary runs along the Ognon flowing here with detours through some usually about two kilometers wide valley to the west. East of the village flows the Lanterne, which also flows through a wide Talniederung. History

Together with the Franche -Comté Chevigney came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. To avoid confusion with other communities of the same name, Chevigney was officially renamed in 1905 in Chevigney -sur- l'Ognon. Today Chevigney -sur- l'Ognon is a member of the comprehensive 13 municipalities municipal association Communauté de communes des Rives de l' Ognon.

Attractions

The single-nave church of Saint -Léger was built in the 18th century in classical style. In a large English park, the Château de Chevigney stands, which was built in 1764 and 1850 and completely restored in 1885.

With 241 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Chevigney -sur- l'Ognon is one of the small communities of the department of Doubs.
