Chief of Staff of the United States Army

The Chief of Staff of the Army ( CSA, dt as: Chief of Staff of the Army ) is the highest ranking officer in the United States Army.

The CSA is a general who the Secretary of the Army (English about: Defense Minister ) is assumed. As the Chief of Staff of the other branches of the armed forces, he has no direct operational command authority, but provides the operational capability of the armed forces under his safe. The direct command of the troops take on the Unified Combatant Commanders of Commands.

As a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff ( JCS ), the General Staff of the U.S. armed forces, the CSA is the principal advisor to the President on matters relating to the U.S. Army.

His deputy is the Vice Chief of Staff of the Army. Before 1903 was the military head of the U.S. Army Commanding General of the United States Army.
