Dannemarie-sur-Crète

Dannemarie -sur- Crète is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Dannemarie -sur- Crète located at 290 m, approximately 13 km west-southwest of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village covers an elongated hill in the gently undulating countryside between the rivers of Doubs in the south and Ognon ( in the north).

The area of ​​4.06 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the north Doubstals. Bounded is the area on the south by the main road N73, which runs from Besancon to Dole and the west by the valley of the Ringeard. This drains the area south to the Doubs. Passing the part with arable and meadow land, partly with forest landscape shows only slight differences in relief. On the hill of Dannemarie the watershed between the Doubs and Ognon runs. With 303 m find the highest mountains of Dannemarie -sur- Crète is achieved.

Neighboring communities of Dannemarie -sur- Crète are Villers- Buzon in the north, Chemaudin in the east, Grand Fontaine, Velesmes - Dessessart and Saint -Vit in the south and Pouilley -Français in the West.

History

Is first mentioned Dannemarie in 1110 under the name Donna Maria; 1275 the name Dompna Mary is preserved. In the Middle Ages Dannemarie belonged first to rule Corcondray, after which it formed a separate rule. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. To avoid confusion with other communities of the same name, Danne Marie was officially renamed in 1922 in Dannemarie -sur- Crète.

Attractions

The church of Notre -Dame de l' Assomption de la Vierge in 1624 was the site of a dilapidated medieval church (12th century) rebuilt. From the 18th century comes the present building of the castle.

With 1326 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Dannemarie -sur- Crète one of the smaller communities of the department of Doubs. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the range between 150 and 190 people, a striking population growth was recorded since the early 1950s.
