Deir ez-Zor Governorate
Deir ez- Zor (Arabic دير الزور, DMG Dair az -Zur ) is a province in eastern Syria, with an area of 33,060 km ² and an estimated 1.5 million residents.
It is located in the Syrian desert and is bordered to the east by Iraq. Capital and largest city is the city of Deir ez- Zor. Other places are Abu Kamal al - Mayadin and Hadschin.
The population is mostly of Arabs, of whom a relatively large part Bedouins.
