Dickinson County (Kansas)

Dickinson County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Abilene.

Geography

The County is located in the central north east of Kansas and has an area of ​​2207 square kilometers, of which eleven square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Clay County, Morris County, Geary County, Marion County, McPherson County, Saline County and Ottawa County.

History

Dickinson County was formed on February 20, 1857 from parts of the nonexistent Davis County and free territory. It was named after Daniel Stevens Dickinson, a U.S. Senator from New York.
