Republic County, Kansas

Republic County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Belleville.

Geography

The County is located north of Kansas, bordering Nebraska and has an area of 1866 square kilometers, of which ten square kilometers of water surface. It borders in Kansas clockwise to the following counties: Washington County, Cloud County and Jewell County.

History

Republic County was formed on February 27, 1860 from parts of Washington County. It was named after the Republican River.
