Republic County, Kansas
Republic County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Belleville.
Geography
The County is located north of Kansas, bordering Nebraska and has an area of 1866 square kilometers, of which ten square kilometers of water surface. It borders in Kansas clockwise to the following counties: Washington County, Cloud County and Jewell County.
History
Republic County was formed on February 27, 1860 from parts of Washington County. It was named after the Republican River.

According to the census in 2000, lived in the Republic County 5835 people in 2557 households and 1685 families in Republic County. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 98.56 percent White, 0.26 percent African American, 0.21 percent Native American, 0.19 percent Asian, 0.33 percent Pacific Islander residents from the and 0.00 percent from other races groups; 0.46 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.94 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The average household size was 2.23 and the average family size was 2.80 persons.
22.3 percent of the population were under 18 years old. 4.5 percent 18 to 24 years 22.1 percent between 25 and 44, 25.0 percent between 45 and 64 years, and 26.1 percent were 65 years of age or older. The average age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 93.2 males. For every 100 adult women 18 years and older 90.8 males.
The median income for a household was $ 30,494, and the median income for a family was $ 39,215. Males have a median income of $ 25,260, women $ 17,274. The per capita income was $ 17,433. 6.0 percent of families and 9.1 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
