Dolné Orešany

Dolné Orešany ( German Unternußdorf or Windischnußdorf, Hungarian Alsódiós ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 1263 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Trnava Region a part of the Trnavský.

Geography

The community is located at the transition from the hill country Trnavská pahorkatina in the Little Carpathians, near the river Parna. The center is located at an altitude of 200 m nm and is 15 kilometers from Trnava and 24 km from Pezinok away.

History

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1235 and was part of Herrschaftsguts the near Beaver Lodge. In the Middle Ages the German "guests" arrived in the village and lived alongside of the native Slavic population. In the 16th century the village was given the right of a borough ( a market town ). In the 16th century, the Anabaptists in place settled, however, that often had conflicts with the Germans. During wars in the Kingdom of Hungary in 17th and early 18th century, the town was repeatedly plundered and burnt down and was at times just a simple village. In the 18th century the village was at best the majority of Slovak. 1828 are 184 houses and 1,096 inhabitants recorded, who were employed in agriculture, viticulture and wood processing.
