Dunajov

Dunajov (Hungarian Dunajó ) is a municipality in the north - central Slovakia with 1149 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Čadca, a part of the Žilinský.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Valley of the Kysuca on the right bank below the Javorník Mountains. The center is located at an altitude of 373 m nm and is 14 kilometers away from Čadca away.

Neighboring municipalities are Krasno nad Kysucou, Kysucký Lieskovec, Ochodnica and Zákopčie.

History

The village was founded in the 16th century in the field of Herrschaftsguts of Budatín and 1598 mentioned as Dunajow. It was colonized, similar to many other places in the landscape Kysuca by Wallachian colonization. 1784 were counted 73 houses and 417 inhabitants in 1828 90 houses and 643 inhabitants. Lack of fertile soil it came to the development of several crafts, but especially tinker, other residents emigrated.

During the Second World War, nine residents were shot by troops of the German Wehrmacht.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Dunajov 1,149 inhabitants, of whom 1,100 Slovaks, Czechs six, two Ukrainians, one Moravians and one other ethnic group. 39 inhabitants did not respond. 1,045 residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church, 12 inhabitants to the Christian community ( an evangelical church ), one population to the Jewish religion and the Orthodox Church and a resident was other denomination. 35 residents were non-denominational and 54 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.

Infrastructure

The basic infrastructure is partially developed: There is water and gas pipes and connection to the cable television network; it lacks the sewer and connection to a sewage treatment plant. In the resort, a kindergarten and a primary school are present (up to the fourth grade ) and there is a post office and a library. The railway line Žilina - Bohumín runs through the village and there is a stop. The road first order 11 (E 75) leads on the left bank of the Kysuca, with connection in Krasno nad Kysucou.
