The 22 Euro Vision Song Contest was held in London's Wembley on May 7, 1977. As in the previous year were France and Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the top, but with swapped places. This time the distance was 15 points. Originally, the competition should be already carry five weeks earlier, but had to be postponed due to a strike of the cameramen of the BBC.

For the first time should an African country, namely Tunisia, participating in the Contest; it was already drawn to start position 4, but withdrew shortly back ( because Israel took part ) and made no attempt after participating more.

A rule change was that all contributions must be re- presented in the local language. This was, however, given the relatively short term known at this time were the songs of Germany and Belgium, respectively in English, already selected and therefore received an exemption.

German preliminary

The German contribution was selected internally without public preliminary decision. After the poor performance in the two previous years, the entertainment chief of the ARD in 1976 to send the then known pop group Silver Convention to Euro Vision Song Contest to London determined. The singers Linda evil Lord, Penny McLean and Ramona Wulf insisted her title to sing in English, and were supported by the producers Sylvester Levay and Michael Kunze. The end of 1976 left Linda evil Lord the group and was replaced by Rhonda Heath. Three songs were submitted, of which the title " Telegram " was selected by the ARD Unterhaltungsschefs as a German contribution. The title became public on March 9, 1977 in program How you would like to present them with Hans Joachim 's Kulenkampff. Silver Convention finished the Euro Vision Song Contest in London with 55 points 8th place. " Telegram " was the last top 30 listing of Silver Convention.

* The table is vertically ordered by the appearance order, horizontally to the chronological point Ever reading. The scoreboard had displayed some errors during the live show. The Greek and French jury awarded 3 points twice, so they forgave 11 different countries points. This was not corrected until after the show. In addition, there were some errors that were corrected during the vote. This incident has helped that, three years later, the votes will be carried forward in ascending order.
