Faverois

Faverois ( formerly Faverach German ) is a town in the French department of Territoire de Belfort in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Faverois is located at 380 m above sea level, three kilometers north-east of Delle and about 18 kilometers southeast of the town of Belfort ( a straight line ). The village extends slightly elevated position at the northern edge of the valley of the Coeuvatte, in the transition region of the Plain of Burgundian gateway to the northern foothills of the Jura Mountains, near the border with Switzerland.

The area of ​​6.50 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the gently undulating countryside in the Burgundian Gate ( trouée de Belfort ). The southern part of the area is traversed in an east-west direction from the 500 m wide Talniederung the Coeuvatte, which provides for drainage to Allaine. The valley is flanked to the south from the plateau of Saint- André ( to 405 m). To the north, the municipality's area extends into the little valley of the village of Bach's Faverois and on the adjacent plateau, culminating with 406 m on the highest hill of the community. This plateau lying at an average of 400 m is partly covered with arable and meadow land, partly with forest (especially the Grand Bois ). History

During the Roman period the important traffic route of Epomanduodurum ( Mandeure ) crossed to Augusta Raurica the municipality.
