Ferenc Csik

Ferenc Csik [ fɛrɛnts tʃi ː k] ( born December 12, 1913 in Kaposvar, † March 29, 1945 in Sopron ) was a Hungarian swimmer.

At the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936 he won the gold medal in the 100 m freestyle after he was two years ago already become European champion in this discipline and won bronze in the 4 × 200 Hungarian -meter freestyle relay. After completing his secondary school education in Keszthely, he studied medicine. Ferenc Csik was killed in 1945 while working as a doctor in Sopron in a bomb attack and was buried in Keszthely. In 1983 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
